Black Knockout is a DTF transfer built specifically for black and near-black garments. Every true-black area of your artwork is removed — knocked out — from the print file, so no ink is laid down there and the fabric of the shirt becomes the black in your design. The remaining colors are printed with advanced halftoning, which puts the ink down as thousands of fine dots instead of one solid slab.

The result is the same artwork with far less ink on the garment: a softer hand feel, a lighter and more breathable print, and no boxy edge around dark designs.

• Send your artwork as a PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI. Almost every file works — just make sure it is visibly not blurry.
• Use true black (#000000) anywhere you want the garment to show through. Those areas are knocked out of the print file and nothing is printed there.
• Very dark greys are not pure black, so they will still print. If you want them knocked out too, tell us in the order notes and we will confirm before printing.
• Black Knockout is made for black and very dark garments only. On white or light-colored garments the knocked-out areas would show the shirt color instead of black.
• Every order is checked against these requirements, and any additional requests left while ordering will be followed and enhancements made.

Black Knockout gang sheets — the softest, lightest DTF transfer we make for black garments. We don't print the black. Your shirt provides it.

On a standard DTF transfer, a white underbase is printed beneath every part of your artwork — including the black. On a black shirt that becomes a thick, heavy panel you can feel, with visible edges around dark areas. Black Knockout removes every true-black area from the print file, so no ink is laid down there at all and the fabric itself becomes the black in your design. The remaining colors go down with advanced halftoning — thousands of fine dots instead of one solid slab of ink.

Artwork requirements

Pressing: 320°F / 160°C, 15 seconds, medium pressure, cold peel. Let it cool completely before peeling, then finish with a 5-second second press under parchment paper.

Follow these simple instructions for a perfect application:

Position and place the transfer onto the garment and place a transfer/parchment paper for the best results.

• Press the transfer using an heat press or an iron at 320F using medium pressure for 15 seconds.
• Allow it to cool at least 2-3 minutes and peel from any side. Cold peel option is chosen by default for the best results.
• There is no need for a repress but it is recommended. So for a repress, simply place the parchment paper again and press 320F for 15 seconds.

• Wash inside out in cold water
• Do not bleach
• Do not dry clean
• Air dry after washing
