Personalized Blanket & Towel Gift Ideas for the Holidays

Photo-printed throw blanket and rolled beach towel with wrapped holiday gifts in a living room

A personalized blanket gift gets used every day, from movie nights on the couch to cold mornings in the bleachers. Pair it with a custom beach towel or embroidered cotton towels and you have a present that feels personal and still earns its spot in the house.

This guide covers gift ideas for everyone on your list, how to choose a blanket's size and fabric, which towel suits whom, design tips for photos and names, and the dates to order by for Christmas.

Personalized blanket gift ideas for everyone on your list

Good blanket gifts start with something the recipient already loves: a face, a place, a team or a name. Here are ideas that suit the people most of us shop for:

  • Grandparents. A collage of the grandkids' photos on a cozy throw for the stretch between visits.
  • New parents. A small blanket with the baby's name and birth date, made to keep as a nursery keepsake.
  • Couples. A wedding or engagement photo with their names and the date, sized to share on the couch.
  • Pet lovers. A portrait of the dog or cat, sized for the sofa or the pet's own bed.
  • Sports families. Team colors with a player's name and number for cold games and long tournament weekends.
  • College students. A family photo or a hometown scene that makes a dorm room feel like home.
  • Anyone far from home. A photo of the family house, a favorite lake or the view from the back porch.

Custom photo blankets

Photos are the simplest way to make a blanket personal. Dye sublimation prints in full color, so a single family photo and a collage of favorites both work well. Choose one strong image for a clean, poster-style look, or a simple grid of a few photos when you can't pick just one.

How to choose a blanket: fabric, weight and size

Our custom blankets come in nine fabric types with weights from 220 to 850 GSM. GSM means grams per square meter, so a higher number means a heavier, thicker blanket.

  • Lighter weights drape easily and suit warm climates, layering on a bed or packing for a trip.
  • Heavier weights feel thick and cozy, which makes them a good pick for cold nights and a gift that feels substantial.

Think about where the blanket will live. A couch throw can be plush and heavy, while a blanket for the car, the stadium or a dorm room should fold small and carry easily.

Blanket sizes and who they suit

Size (inches) Good for
30 × 40 Babies, toddlers, strollers and small pets
42 × 42 Lap blankets, kids and pet beds
50 × 60 The classic couch throw and an easy pick for adults
60 × 80 Covering a bed or sharing the couch
96 × 120 Oversized family blankets (select fabrics)

If you're buying for an adult and aren't sure, the 50 × 60 throw is a safe choice. Go bigger when the blanket is meant for a bed or for two people sharing the couch.

Why sublimation suits blankets

Our blankets are printed with dye sublimation. Heat turns the ink into a gas that bonds with the fabric's fibers, so the design becomes part of the blanket instead of a layer on top. There is nothing to crack or peel, and the fabric stays soft. Production takes 1–3 business days.

Personalized beach towel gifts and more

Towels make easy add-ons to a blanket and good stand-alone gifts for people who are hard to shop for. Each size has a natural match:

  • Beach towel, 30 × 60 inches. A polyester face carries the design and a cotton back does the drying. Made for kids, pool days and family trips.
  • Gym towel, 16 × 32 inches. For athletes, coaches and anyone who never leaves home without a gym bag.
  • Golf towel, 16 × 24 inches. A practical gift for golfers and golf outings.
  • Hand towel, 16 × 27 inches. A finishing touch for a guest bathroom or a housewarming gift.
  • Kitchen towel, 16 × 24 inches. For the home cook or the host who always has people over.

A personalized beach towel is a fun holiday gift because it hints at next summer's trip. Put each family member's name on their own towel, or give everyone a different color, so nobody grabs the wrong one at the pool. Learn more on our custom beach towels page.

Embroidery on cotton towels

On cotton towels, embroidery is an option. A stitched monogram, name or small icon has a raised, textured look that feels classic and suits wedding and housewarming gifts. Bold letters and clean shapes stitch better than fine detail, so keep the design simple.

Gift sets that pair well

A blanket and a few towels together make a gift that feels complete. Combinations that work well:

  • Family beach set. A photo throw for the living room and a named beach towel for each person.
  • Grandparent bundle. A collage blanket plus kitchen towels with the family name.
  • New home set. A throw for the new couch with monogrammed hand and kitchen towels.
  • Team gift. A personalized gym towel for every player and a team blanket for the coach.
  • Golfer's gift. A golf towel with their initials, paired with a cap from our custom hats.

Design tips for photos, names and logos

A blanket is a big canvas, so small problems in a file show up. These tips help the finished gift look as good as it does on your screen.

Getting photos right

  • Use the original file. Send the photo straight from your phone or camera, not a screenshot or a copy saved from social media, which is compressed.
  • Go big on resolution. A small photo stretched across a 50 × 60 throw looks soft. The larger the original, the sharper the print.
  • Pick fewer, stronger photos. A handful of well-lit favorites reads better than dozens of tiny images.
  • Mind the edges. Keep faces and names away from the very edges, so nothing important gets lost when the blanket is draped or folded.

Names, dates and short messages

  • Choose a bold, simple font. Thin script gets hard to read on a plush fabric.
  • Proof every name and date. Read each one out loud before you order. A typo is the hardest gift mistake to live with.
  • Keep it short. A name, a date and one line of text are usually enough.

Team logos and artwork

Use only logos and artwork you own or have permission to use, such as your own team's logo with the team's OK or your family business logo. Skip pro, college and cartoon character logos. Original designs, names and your own photos are always the safest choice.

When to order personalized gifts for Christmas

Every date on our holiday order deadlines page is for orders placed before 3 PM EST and is planned around delivery before Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec 24:

  • Standard shipping: order by Tuesday, Dec 15
  • Fastest shipping: order by Monday, Dec 21
  • Free local pickup in Alpharetta: order by Wednesday, Dec 23

Those dates assume your order leaves our shop by the next business day. Blankets need 1–3 business days of production, so order blankets a few business days earlier than the date for your shipping option. If one order mixes a blanket and towels, plan around the blanket.

Sending a gift out of state? We ship to all 50 states with tracking. Close to Alpharetta? Free local pickup saves the shipping time.

Frequently asked questions

Give a gift they'll use every day

Choose the person, pick a size and fabric, and gather your favorite photos or names. A blanket or towel made just for them stays in use long after the wrapping paper is gone.
